Next CSO and CONDO Workshop - 23 September 2010

Higginson Associates Ltd will be running a Contractor Support to Operations (CSO) and Contractors on Deployed Operations (CONDO) Workshop on Thursday 23rd September 2010, in association with A|D|S and MoD to explain the developments in CSO and the changes to CSO and CONDO policy. The Workshop will take place at Broadway House, Tothill Street, Westminster, London.

The National Defence Industrial Council (NDIC) CSO Working Group was tasked by Chief of Defence Material (CDM) to oversee a Joint MoD and Industry CSO Tiger Team which, from Sept 09-Feb 10, carried out a major review of MoD use of CSO. The Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff (VCDS) on behalf of Min AF has now agreed that the report and implementation plan can be promulgated throughout the MoD and Industry. Andrew Higginson was a member of the Tiger Team.

For the purposes of CONDO, MoD has re-issued DEFSTAN 05-129 (Issue 4, 12 March 2010) and intends to re-issue DEFCON 697 by Spring 2010.

DEFCON 697 and DEFSTAN 05-129 will be included in all contracts that have any actual or potential requirement for the presence of contractors, sub contractors and their employees outside the British Isles and also on deployed operations into an Operations Area (OA) including Joint Operations Areas (JOAs).

Supported by A|D|S and the Industry Commercial Group and leading on from the CONDO Commercial and Legal Workshops run in 2006, '07, '08 and '09, Higginson Associates, the A|D|S CONDO Consultants organise these CSO and CONDO Workshops in association with G4S Risk Management, Control Risks, Number One Health Group Ltd, Integro Insurance Brokers and KBR.

The MoD (Defence Supply Chain Operations and Movements (DSCOM), DE&S) will attend the Workshop to provide a MoD perspective and to answer any specific operational deployment-related questions.

Aim of the CSO and CONDO Workshop

The aim of the CSO and CONDO Workshop is to provide a full brief on the CSO and CONDO processes and on the legal and commercial obligations upon the Contractor as part of the civilian component of the military force, whilst also providing specific information on pricing for CSO and CONDO, carrying out risk assessments, CSO and CONDO Training and health preparation for deployments, as well as risk mitigation and insurance cover.
